Acupressure in Birmingham & the West Midlands

Definition of Acupressure

Acupressure is based on the same ideas and theories as acupuncture, but is non-invasive, using physical pressure on acupuncture points rather than needles. In fact, acupressure predates acupuncture and can be traced back over 5000 years. The hands, fingers, elbows, thumbs and knuckles are used, as well as certain smooth blunt objects. The points used are part of the body’s system of 12 meridians and are used to rebalance yin and yang.

Acupressure is also used in the East for self-defense purposes both as a method of attack and for self healing to increase circulation and flexibility and reduce vulnerability. Maternity acupressure is also popular. People can be concerned with acupressure pain, but this is a painless therapy.

Acupressure is a safe and effective complement to conventional medicine and is also used as preventative medicine. It is widely used for elimination of stress and pain and the alleviation of symptoms.
